The client of this issue, Miao Miao, is a diving instructor. When she first met her boyfriend, they were an enviable pair of "handsome men and beautiful women." But as the two entered the marriage hall, the husband, a programmer, shouldered more of the burden of the family. Due to his irregular diet due to exhaustion from work, the husband's weight skyrocketed from 140 pounds to 220 pounds. He had to face one of the most concerning health problems among young people today - overwork obesity.
Her husband's health problems worry Meow Meow, and her "old and shabby" house brings even more problems to the couple's daily life.

Problem analysis before transformation
After surveying the site, designer Zhu Xiaoming summarized several problems with the client’s housing:
1. The floor height of 2.15 meters makes people feel very depressed. 2. The kitchen has no lighting and the space is airtight. 3. The interior of the bathroom is compact, and there is no separation between dry and wet. 4. The walls have many cracks, leaks, and mildew. There are even more leaks.
In response to these existing problems on the top floor of such a multi-story old building, designer Zhu Xiaoming took the right medicine and through clever reconstruction of the space, tried to design a home that resembles a quiet courtyard under the shade of sunlight. The natural comfort makes it have a“A unique experience of living in a busy city and enjoying the beauty of forests and springs.
Stages in transformation
The two weeks were very tight. The designer worked overtime to select materials and layout, and it took half a day just to demolish the house. Therefore, the "building block" assembly method adopted this time, its color matching, precise design, and quick installation can quickly shorten the renovation time, which is very suitable for the theme of this "speedy" home renovation.
Frequent problems during the renovation process
While Miaomiao and her husband were traveling, designer Zhu Xiaoming also encountered an unexpected situation during the renovation process. The originally planned beams could not be removed, and the design plan needed to be changed immediately.

The process of dismantling
The demolition process took half a day. The second most difficult part of the renovation was the sound insulation and noise reduction of the room. Therefore, prefabricated building materials are used on the walls of bedrooms, living rooms, and multi-functional rooms, and other areas are renovated using prefabricated thinking. The advantage of the assembly type is that it is environmentally friendly, fast and has low noise.

In order to make up for the shortcomings of lack of individuality, designer Zhu Xiaoming also specially went to woodworking, kitchenware and other factories to verify all sizes and materials. choice. The second stage of the transformation is wall-mounted installation (dust-free, noise-free, environmentally friendly) and some semi-assembled installations. On the top floor of a multi-story old building, through clever reconstruction of space, we designed a home that feels like a quiet courtyard under the shade of sunny trees. It breathes naturally and feels natural and comfortable, giving it the feeling of "living in a busy city and enjoying the forest." A different kind of experience.
In this home that is exclusive to them, the designer's intentions can be seen from the exquisite design of the stairs. The cartoon heads of the other two "little masters" in the home seem to be welcoming their masters home under the soft light.
Entering the house, the stone steps at the entrance fill the entire space with a natural atmosphere.
The sunken living room is used as a leisure area, using steps and sofas to form a unique sunken space, making every detail of life full of ritual. The height difference structure is used to realize space division, and the gap and isolation between the sofa and the surrounding environment are formed. The overall design of the concave area is more layered.
The "starry sky wall" that glows at night
The open dining and kitchen are integrated, and soft light pours into the room through the floor-to-ceiling windows, making the space appear spacious, bright and elegant.
With the floating light and shadow, the entire guest restaurant is suffused with a touch of warmth, simple and exquisite, warm and comfortable.
The simulated green plants in the living room not only soften the lines of the indoor hard decoration, but also bring a natural atmosphere into it. A quiet courtyard gradually emerges, like a courtyard under the shade of a sunny tree.

Q: What are the differences between renovation projects and brand-new projects for you? A: The biggest difference is probably the need to fight against time. For our usual projects, we can think slowly and tangle repeatedly, but this renovation project requires us to complete our beautiful ideas in rapid implementation. There will be a lot of objective thinking, the owner's wishes, and some subjective creation, so everything will come accurately, quickly, and objectively.
Q: The feature of "Extreme Renovation Home" is that it is assembled. Can designers adapt to this feature? Do you think this is the future trend? A: Because we usually do some architectural design, are exposed to some temporary exhibitions, and have accumulated some experience and knowledge on rapid construction and assembly at home and abroad, so it is quite suitable for us. Then the prefabricated style itself is a popular trend in the world. It can complete a project that is both high-quality and environmentally friendly in a short time. However, this does not mean that traditional design will be left behind. Both of these are can coexist.
Q: Each project assignment is somewhat consistent with the personal style of the current designer. What do you think is the reason why the director team chose you for this project? A: The first one should be the geographical advantage. Because I am located in Hangzhou, the investment of time and cooperation resources will be relatively more convenient. The second reason is that I was born in a rural area and love landscapes, so I also like oriental poetic space creation in design. The male owner has studied in Japan before, and he also likes Japanese style and Eastern Zen artistic conception. , so I think this is also a match of taste.
Q: From the beginning, process, and end of the project transformation, can you use one word to describe your status in each of the three stages? What was the most impressive thing about the whole process? A: "Curiosity", "Running", and "Comfortable", I think these three words can describe my state at different stages. From the beginning when I received this task out of curiosity, I aroused my desire to challenge, and during the transformation process, the factory, construction site, and company were busy running around non-stop, to the feeling of comfort after the final project was completed. The most impressive thing is the last two days and one night. I even forgot about hunger and fatigue. The moment when everyone worked together for the same goal..
Q: What is your original intention for participating in this project? Has it been achieved? A: My original intention is to create a sky loft with a quiet courtyard atmosphere in the urban jungle, with sky, earth, starry sky and courtyard. In the end, through unremitting breakthroughs and coordination, light and "starry sky" were introduced, and the sunken garden was reproduced. I was particularly pleased to see the client's love for the renovated home.
Q: If there is still a chance, do you want to continue the challenge or come to an end? If you want to continue challenging, what kind of project would you like to challenge? A: I think I can challenge it again next year, re-imagine it, rest and settle before setting off again. If I were to do it again, I hope to challenge public or people's livelihood projects.
